Information for the 2011 Faire

Parking for the Faire is located at NorthView Church at the intersection of Hwy 124 (Braselton Hwy) and Hwy 324 (Gravel Springs Rd.  GPS or Mapquest: 2000 Gravel Springs Rd., Buford, GA 30519.  We hope to have Handicapped Parking nearer to the site. Taffic control will direct you to the site and Handicapped Parking. 

Admission $2.00 per person, $5 for family

(Except for Food and Merchantise in the Trading Post, this is the only charge)

Parking for the Lecture is at the front of the school.  The school and site are close to each other but the school has a Dacula address. No charge

 Some of the featured events/activities/booths/displays for this year are:

Flag Raising Ceremoney each day at 11am led by Veteran members of the Gwinnett Veterans Memorial Museum, Lawrenceville, who will also have one of the many displays.

Archaeological Excavations and directed by guest archaeologists and carried out by students of :

Fort Daniel Elementary School

Twin Rivers Middle School

Georgia Gwinnett College

Georgia State University

 

Demonstrations of High Technology used in Archaeology by Georgia Southern University.

Field processing (washing and registration) of artifacts

Pottery reconstruction (for children) by the Society for Georgia Archaeology

The Fort Daniel Museum in our 1812 War period wall tent, displaying artifacts from the Fort Daniel site.

The Hog Mountain Trading Post (New) where FDF T-shirts and other items may be purchased.

For the kids: Face-painting and historic costume dress-up

The GARS booth will be offering displays explaining Archaeological methods and processes as well as an antique tool identification and purpose challenge.  Winners will receive a prize. 

There will also be a food stand - Hot dogs, sodas, chips, ice cream, etc.

The GARS Tent will feature displays explaining archaeological methods and an antique tool display.
